Kerr County officials are urging citizens who want to receive the COVID-19 vaccine to sign up for the free CodeRed notification system, which will be used to announce when the first vaccine clinic date will be .
Kerr County Emergency Management Coordinator Dub Thomas said, “When we receive vaccine doses here in Kerr County, everyone will be notified of the vaccine clinic date and site via CodeRed, as well as through the county’s Facebook page and the county’s website – co.kerr.tx.us – and on the City of Kerrville and Peterson Regional Medical Center websites.”
At that time, a website and 1-800 telephone number will be announced for individuals who fall into the Tier 1A category and then, the Tier 1B category, as outlined by the Texas Dept. of State Health Services guidelines for vaccine distribution.
There are still many Tier 1A people in Kerr County who need an opportunity to be vaccinated. Tier 1A includes individuals who are at the highest risk of COVID-19 infection. Tier 1B includes people who are 65 years old and older, 16 years old and older with a medical condition.
The county’s pandemic total to date is 65 deaths of permanent Kerr County residents.
As of January 19:
398 active cases of COVID-19 in local citizens
3,187 recoveries
65 fatalities of permanent local residents as reported by DSHS
32 hospitalizations of patients receiving care for COVID-19 in PRMC
Kerr County is currently operating a call center to offer assistance to people who have questions or concerns regarding the COVID-19 virus or vaccinations. The phone bank is manned from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays, at (830) 315-5900.
