On Thursday, Peterson Health announced that a new primary and specialty care clinic will open in Fredericksburg in the fall of 2021. The new clinic will be located adjacent to the Frieden development off Highway 87 at 97 Hitching Post Trail, and will be led by Derrick Borecky, MD, who is relocating from Florida.

According to Peterson Health’s CEO and President Corey Edmondson, “Peterson Health is on the grow! We are so excited about adding a new and exciting business model created by the Frieden development to expand our services and meet the growing needs of Fredericksburg and surrounding communities.”

This segues to other Peterson news, as of July 29, Peterson Health reported 26 cases of COVID-19, according to Pam Burton, Infection Prevention Supervisor. Out of those 26 patients, only one individual had been vaccinated for the COVID-19 virus.

Similarly, San Antonio area hospitals are seeing a spike in COVID-19 case counts and have experienced a 170% increase in admissions since July 1. The San Antonio Air Force Base is now requiring everyone to wear masks indoors, following the San Antonio Missions making facial coverings mandatory indoors on Wednesday.

Statewide, 79% of the newly reported cases are of the Delta variant. On Thursday, July 29, the Texas DSHS confirmed 6,300 newly confirmed cases, 5,662 COVID-19 hospitalizations and 52.44% of all eligible Texans are fully vaccinated.

In the Austin Region, state data shows that there are only 13 intensive care unit beds available in the 11-county Austin region. This statistic means that more than 98% of all ICU beds in the area are currently occupied.
