It’s finally Friday, and kicking off your weekend with some reminders out of Kendall County. Early voting for a judge position begins Monday, May 16, and runs through Friday, May 20, at the Kendall County Courthouse Annex from 8 AM to 6 PM.
After narrow margins in the Republic primary last March, Shane Stolarczyk and Chris Taylor were within a 2 percent margin, forcing a primary runoff election. On Election Day, Tuesday, May 24, voters can cast their ballots at Boerne City Hall, the Bergheim Volunteer Fire Dept, the Burdick, Kendalia or Sisterdale Community Center, and the Boerne Bible Church or Comfort Baptist Church between 7 AM and 7 PM.
Another race taking place next week is that for the Republican nomination for Kendall County’s Precinct 2 Commissioner.
The original 3-person field has been narrowed down to 2: Andra Wisian and Leon Brimhall. Wisian was just shy of the 50% needed to win the nomination in March.
Out of Kerr County: Once again, the Kerr County Animal Shelter and Kerrville Pets Alive! Are asking for the community’s help in saving several dogs’ lives, and giving them “forever homes.” According to Kerrville Citycouncilmember Brenda Hughes, 49 dogs were recently seized from a home due to unsatisfactory conditions. If you are even remotely considering adopting a pet, please contact KCAS.
Speaking of pets, there will be a free microchip event taking place tomorrow, Saturday, May 14, from 10 AM to 2 PM at KPA!’s main office, 414 Clay Street. Vaccinations will also be available, but don’t forget that all dogs must be leashed; cats must be contained in pet carriers.
Finally today, if you’re looking for an interesting and educational activity for the entire family to enjoy this weekend, you may want to head on over to the Stegner Ranch in Stonewall. Rockets 2022 is back, with more than 50 rockets.
All of the rockets were built and designed by students from 19 high schools from all over the state. These aren’t just any ol’ models. They can reach heights of up to one mile high, and achieve the speed of sound. Just remember to register in advance, before you go, at: systemsgo.org
