Bandera County authorities have ordered an autopsy for the skeletal remains discovered off Red Bluff Ranch Road Wednesday evening at roughly 5:09 p.m. According to Bandera County Chief Deputy Matt King, a passerby discovered the body near the side of the road.

Authorities say the body appeared to have been wrapped in a tarp and then set on fire. At this time, the victim’s gender has not been officially determined due to advanced decomposition.

King released a statement saying, “It’s not really a highly traveled road.” Bandera officials are investigating the recent discovery of human remains as a homicide case.

King says Judge Lynn Holt ordered the autopsy from Central Autopsy, based in Lockhart.
