The City of Fredericksburg has begun their expanded street sweeping program which includes all city-maintained streets.  The sweeping is scheduled for Monday, October 10-21, and takes place prior to the beginning of the Fall/Winter Leaf Collection Program.

The city leaf program is part of the city’s efforts that include residential curbside brush chipping and leaf collection programs and is offered twice each year to residential garbage customers.  Anyone who cannot remove debris from their yards should call the street department to make arrangements for a special loader and dump truck.

Residents are reminded of certain guidelines before raking their leaves to the street:

Rake leaves into the street, 12 inches from curb

Don’t rake bricks, twigs, rocks or wire

Avoid parking vehicles near leaf piles

No grass clippings

Leaf collection will run from Monday, October 24 – January 27, 2023.  The spring campaign is tentatively scheduled to begin in March, 2023.

For additional details, call the City of Fredericksburg.
