The City of Kerrville’s wastewater collections division will begin performing smoke testing on the sewer system in the Kerr South area Wednesday and Thursday, October 12-13, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. each day.  The streets scheduled for testing include Trace, Rancho Oaks, Lydick, Quail Valley, Loyal Valley and Frederick.

Smoke testing helps identify whether there are any water infiltration breaks in the sewer collection system.  The reduction of infiltration helps reduce overall operational costs, as well as helping reduce the number of blockages.

The City states that no incendiary devices are used to produce the smoke.  Additionally, the liquid smoke that will be used is considered to be non-toxic and will dissipate quickly.
