Men’s Tennis Earns ITA All-Academic Team Award

KERRVILLE, TX: The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) released the 2023 All-Academic Teams and Scholar Athletes last week and Schreiner Men’s Tennis were among the teams recognized.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2022 and spring 2023) and must be listed on the institutional eligibility form.

Along with being recognized as an ITA All-Academic team, Schreiner Men’s Tennis also had eight players be recognized as an ITA Scholar Athlete:

Jonathan Barragan

Austin Cervantes

Mario Gallinar

Jason Harris

Carson Kirk

Dennis Miller

Jackson Pogue

Max Schechter 

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) and 3.) be listed on the institutional eligibility form. 

Although they did not recieve an ITA All-Academic team recognition, the Schreiner Women’s Tennis team also had three players recognized as ITA Scholar Athletes:
