KERRVILLE, TX: The Schreiner University Men’s Soccer team won their road non-conference match against Sul Ross State University 4-2.

The Mountaineers traveled to Alpine, Texas, for their non-conference matchup against the Lobos from Sul Ross State University.

Schreiner would force the action early as senior midfielder, Zaaron Gonzalez, put the first point on the board with an assist from freshman, Bhodey Miller, in the 10th minute of the first half. Then, just thirteen minutes later, Gonzalez returned the favor with an assist back to Miller for the 2nd goal of the day, putting Schreiner up 2-0. However, that lead would not hold for the Mountaineers, as Sul Ross State answered with two goals of their own, tying the match up 2-2 heading into halftime.

As the second half got underway, Schreiner got right back into action as a penalty kick was called in favor of the Mountaineers. Called on to take the penalty kick was senior midfielder, Iseah Hernandez, who found the back of the net and put Schreiner back on top 3-2. Finally, as the last few seconds ticked away on the scoreboard, freshman, Jacob Gamboa, sealed the game for Schreiner as he scored the first goal of his collegiate career in the 89th minute of the match, giving Schreiner the 4-2 win over Sul Ross State.

This win by Schreiner Men’s Soccer now puts their winning streak at three in a row, their longest streak so far under the direction of 2nd year Head Coach, Darren Bauer.
