South” collab with Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean.

In the six-minute video, Shenandoah discussed their 1989 hit and the idea behind working with Luke and Jason, while the two Georgia boys recounted their early years hearing “Sunday in the South.”

“While having an opportunity of being invited to be a part of Luke Bryan’s 30 number-one records, while there, I got the opportunity to chat with Jason for a little bit and, of course, chat with Luke,” Shenandoah’s Marty Raybon shares.

“And while we were backstage, I mentioned to Jason, I said, ‘Man, look. We just cut a brand new track on “Sunday in the South” and I recall several times people sending us videos of you doing “Sunday in the South” at some of [your] shows. Man, it’d tickle us to death if y’all would come in and render and be a part of this new cut we got on,'” he recounts.

“Marty had always been complimentary and gracious of Jason and I back when we were touring years ago on our little satellite B-stage, Jason and I, we would do this song,” says Luke.

“My earliest memories was [‘Sunday in the South’] speaking exactly [to] my life. I mean, I remember being a kid, hearing the lyrics of that and really understanding it as speaking to how I was growing up,” he says. “Going to church on Sundays and dinner on the ground.”

“It just embodied where we were from from Georgia,” Jason adds. “It’s just like something that was very relatable.”
