Dua Lipa and Miley Cyrus have both served simultaneously as host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live and both of them are featured in the trailer for the new documentary Ladies & Gentleman … 50 Years of SNL Music, which premieres Jan. 27 on NBC.
“You don’t know what’s gonna happen until 11:30 p.m.,” says Dua. “Things are constantly changing.”
“It’s the tightrope walk,” Miley adds. “They wanna see you dangle, they don’t wanna see you fall.”
Directed by Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson of The Roots, the documentary also features interviews with dozens of past cast members and musical guests, including Billie Eilish, Justin Timberlake, Bad Bunny, Olivia Rodrigo and Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Dave Grohl, Paul Simon, Mick Jagger, Blondie‘s Debbie Harry and Rage Against the Machine‘s Tom Morello.
In the trailer, you’ll see clips of performances by Beyonce, Adele, Taylor Swift, Paul McCartney, David Bowie, Nirvana, Tupac, Run-DMC, Sinead O’Connor and even Ashlee Simpson‘s notorious lip-synching disaster.
The trailer ends with Sabrina Carpenter, who did the show last year, boasting during her performance, “I’m on SNL and you’re not!”
