Kerr County Judge seeking applicants for serving out Precinct Two position

With the announcement of an early retirement by Kerr County Commissioner (Pct. 2) Tom Moser, applicants are being sought by candidates who would like to be appointed to serve out Moser’s remaining term. Moser announced his retirement June 28.

By state law, county commissioners must live in the precincts they represent. Moser is relocating within Kerr County but will no longer be residing in Precinct Two.

Kerr County Judge Rob Kelly has sole authority to appoint the person who will fulfill Moser’s remaining term, which is about one and a half more years. Anyone interested in the position should visit the county’s website at https://www.co.kerr.tx.us/employment/ and download the standard job application from titled “County Application.” All applications should be returned to Kerr County Judge Rob Kelly, Suite 101, Kerr County Courthouse 700 Main Street, in Kerrville, no later than August 2.

Those interested in submitting an application must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years of age, have not received any prior felony convictions, reside in and registered to vote in Precinct Two. Moser was first elected to his position in November 2012 and had already stated that his current term would be his last. The Precinct Two seat comes due for election in November 2022.

Kelly said, “I am aware of much interest in filling Moser’s vacating chair. Thus far, I know of approximately 20 potential applicants.” Kelly plans on placing the matter on the Kerr County Commissioner’s Court agenda for executive session discussion at the regularly scheduled August 9 meeting.

Moser will continue serving as acting commissioner for Precinct Two until his replacement takes office. According to Kelly, “The plan is to swear in the newly appointed commissioner on August 23.”
