Kerr County has seen a decline in local COVID-19 cases in the past couple of weeks, and as of Monday, March 1, the number of active cases had fallen yet again.
According to Kerr County Emergency Management Coordinator Dub Thomas, “Things are looking improved in our county. We’re finally seeing the numbers move in the right direction…down.”
Thomas added, “Sadly, the only number not going down is the death toll being taken on local citizens by the novel coronavirus. On Monday, the county was notified of yet another one of our permanent Kerr County residents who had died from the virus. That report came from the Texas DSHS, which means the person more than likely died outside the county.”
As of Monday, March 1, Kerr County has 89 active cases, 7 hospitalizations, 4,056 recoveries and 82 confirmed fatalities due to COVID-19. Peterson Health reported 3 new positive cases on Monday.
The Kerr County COVID-19 Vaccine call center remains open and is manned during business hours, Mondays through Fridays, at (830) 315-5900.
Citizens wanting to register for the vaccine when one becomes available to them are invited to call the Peterson Regional Medical Center Pre-Registration Call Center at 1-800-208-3611 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays. Individuals can also complete the registration process online by visiting the Peterson Health COVID-19 Vaccine Pre-Registration Sign Up Survey (research. net).
Peterson Health is prioritizing vaccines by the following State of Texas mandates: health care workers, residents of long-term care facilities, people 65 years of age or older, people with a health condition that increases risk of severe COVID-19 illness.
Thomas wants to remind all Kerr County citizens to continue practicing safety measures including wearing masks, social distancing and frequently disinfecting homes and workspaces. “Together, we will come out the other side of this pandemic stronger.”
