Two children killed and eight people injured during drag racing event Saturday in Kerrville

Two children were killed and eight people were injured at a drag racing event which took place Saturday at Kerrville-Kerr County Airport.

At roughly 3:20 p.m., a vehicle participating in the “Airport Race Wars 2” lost control and left the runway, crashing into parked vehicles and struck spectators, according to a Kerrville Police Department press release.

A six-year-old male child died at the scene, and an eight-year-old male child was transported to Peterson Regional Medical Center in Kerrville where he was pronounced dead.

Four individuals were transported by air ambulances to treatment facilities. A 26-year-old male was transported to Dell Seaton Medical Center in Austin and his condition is unknown.

A 27-year old female was transported to University Medical Center in San Antonio and is listed as non-life-threatening critical condition.

A 46-year old female was transported to University Medical Center in San Antonio and is listed in critical condition.

The 34-year old driver was transported to San Antonio Medical Center and is listed in stable condition.

Two people were treated and released at the scene. Two children, a 4-year-old male, and a 3-month-old female were transported to Peterson Regional Medical Center for precautionary evaluations.

The Kerrville Police Department is conducting an investigation into the accident, which is active and ongoing.
