The most recent COVID-19 statistics reported in Kerr County show that case numbers remain relatively stable since Thanksgiving, with local active cases increasing, but area hospitalizations getting smaller. According to Kerr County Emergency Management Coordinator Dub Thomas, Kerr County has 386 active coronavirus cases, 6,702 recoveries, 4 COVID-19 hospitalizations at Peterson Regional Medical Center and 140 confirmed COVID-19 fatalities (an increase by two individuals), as of December 6.
The Texas Department of State Health Services reports that there are 222 COVID-19 hospitalizations in the 28-county region that includes Kerr County. This figure represents 3.1% of patients utilizing the hospital capacity of hospital facilities across the region. More than 3,000 Texans are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 for the first time in a month.
The number of eligible residents residing in Kerr County that have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 stands at 48.07%. The Texas DSHS confirms that 55.34% of all eligible Texans are fully vaccinated against the virus, as of December 7.
Thomas wants to continue to remind citizens to gather responsibly during the upcoming holiday season and continue to practice necessary safety protocols to help prevent spreading the virus.
