Election Day is tomorrow, Saturday, May 7th

In Kerr County:  The City of Kerrville will have an opportunity to vote on Proposition A, which is the issuance of the City of Kerrville to designate bonds for a public safety facility and the levying of a tax in payment thereof, in an amount not to exceed $45,000,000.

In Gillespie County, the City of Fredericksburg has three people vying for the mayoral seat:  Jeryl Hoover, Timothy Ellis Riley and incumbent Charlie Kiehne.  Those listed on the ballot for the two councilmember seats:  Emily Kirchner, incumbent Tom Musselman, James McDonald and Tony Klein.Incumbent Jerry Luckenbach has announced that he is not seeking re-election.  

The final day to return a ballot by mail is Election Day, May 7, by 7 p.m. if the carrier envelope is not postmarked. If they are postmarked by 7 p.m. and the voter is not overseas or a military voter, ballots can also be returned Monday, May 9, by 5 p.m. at the location of the election on Election Day.

All Texans can vote on two Constitutional Amendments.

Proposition 1 proposes an amendment authorizing the Texas Legislature to reduce limitation amounts on the total property taxes that could be imposed for elementary and secondary public school purposes on homeowners who are elderly or disabled.  This would be done to reflect statutory reductions in the maximum compressed rate of the maintenance and operations taxes imposed on someone’s home for the previous year.

Proposition 2 proposes an increase in the amount a resident can subtract from his or her home value before public school property taxes are levied from 25,000 to $40,000.
