Summer may be officially coming to a close, but area kids have one last opportunity to have some fun by taking part in the Kerrville “Kids Triathlon” and “Wet N Wag” on Saturday, August 12.
The 27th annual “Kids Triathlon” will take place in Singing Winds Park on Saturday, August 12, beginning at 9 a.m., and all children ages pre-K to 18 are invited to participate. Pre-registration will continue through Wednesday, August 9, and can be completed at the Parks and Recreation Department, 2385 Bandera Highway, or by calling (830) 257-7300. On-site registration and participant check-in will be available on the event day starting at 7:30 a.m. at the Olympic Pool, 601 Olympic Drive. The $15 entrance fee includes a t-shirt, water bottle, and the opportunity to win a number of prizes.
Athletes will be grouped according to their age, and will swim, bike, and run various age-appropriate distances. Lifeguards will be present at the Olympic Pool. Athletes should bring a bike and helmet, as it is mandatory in order to participate in the event.
On the evening of August 12, “Wet N Wag” will take place from 5-7 p.m. at the Olympic Pool, but there is a limit of one dog per adult chaperone. Dog owners need to bring a current proof of rabies vaccinations, and owners are asked to refrain from bringing aggressive dogs to the event. Additionally, owners are asked to clean up after their pets, and pet waste bags will be made available on-site. Dogs must be leashed when not in the fenced pool area.
For more information, contact the Kerrville Parks and Recreation Department at (830) 257-7300, or visit the city’s website at www.kerrvilletx.gov.
