Upcoming COVID-19 vaccination clinics

Kerr County leaders want to remind Hill Country residents of the last of the scheduled COVID-19 vaccine clinics.

The Texas Military Department is currently administering Moderna vaccines at the First United Methodist Church, 321 Thompson Drive, in Kerrville, from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., through Friday, May 7. All vaccines are free of charge and no appointments are necessary.

Peterson Health will be administering Johnson & Johnson vaccines on May 13. Additionally, beginning Wednesday, May 5, Peterson Health will re-open their self-scheduling system for individuals wishing to make an appointment for a COVID-19 vaccine. For more information visit: petersonhealth.com.

The CDC is expected to make an announcement as early as this week authorizing the use of the Pfizer vaccine for 12-15 year olds, according to the New York Times.

As of May 3, 49.8% of adult Texans have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose, and 35.88% are fully vaccinated. There are 92,408 active cases, 2,558 hospitalizations and 49,309 COVID-19 related deaths reported in the state.

On the national front, daily coronavirus cases and death tolls are about 1/5 of what they were during peak winter months. The CDC is reporting that 70% of all Americans ages 65 years and older are fully vaccinated against the virus, and 83% of all Americans in that same demographic have had at least one dose.
