The Kerrville Parks and Recreation Department is currently fundraising to help cover the cost of replacing the playground at Guadalupe Park.  The goal is to raise $200,000 as a matching contribution for this project.  Donations will directly fund the installation of a new, wheelchair-accessible inclusive playground featuring a shade structure and an artificial turf fall zone.

“The existing playground is 30 years old and needs to be replaced.  An inclusive playground is designed to be accessible and welcoming for children of every ability, including those with physical, sensory, or cognitive disabilities,” said Ashlea Boyle, director of Parks and Recreation.  “This initiative will ensure that everyone in our community can enjoy the benefits of play within our park system.”

The Kerrville Parks and Recreation Foundation (KPRF) was created through a partnership between the City of Kerrville and the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country.  The KPRF is a component fund of the Community Foundation, a 501(c) public charitable organization.  Donations are tax-deductible.

Donations can be made to the Kerrville Parks and Recreation Foundation online at:https://cftexashillcountry.fcsuite.com/erp/donate.  Checks can be mailed to the Foundation at Kerrville Parks and Recreation Foundation, c/o Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country, 241 Earl Garrett Street, Kerrville, TX 78028.

This project is financed through a sales tax revenue bond issued by the City of Kerrville, Texas, Economic Improvement Corporation, and approved by the Kerrville City Council.  Part of this bond has been allocated for general park improvements, including playground upgrades.  Bond payments will be funded through sales tax revenue, not property taxes.

For additional information, contact the Parks and Recreation Department at (830) 257-7300, or visit the city’s website at www.kerrvilletx.gov.
