The Kerr County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division conducted an undercover operation in the 700 block of Guadalupe Street in Kerrville on December 5.  An investigator acting in an undercover capacity as a minor female was contacted by a male subject identified as Jeremiah William McLaughlin, according to authorities.

McLaughlin, 38, of Kerrville, communicated with the investigator over the course of two days and asked to meet the investigator in a public location.  The Special Operations Division, along with the assistance of the Patrol Division, took McLaughlin into custody without incident at the designated location.  He was booked into the Kerr County Jail for one count of Online Solicitation of a Minor, Sexual Conduct, a second-degree felony.

“Our Special Operations Division continued the work of protecting our young people and working to stop online exploitation,” said Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha.  “Parents and guardians can help on their end, too.  If your kids have new electronics under the tree, make sure to keep an eye out for new online dangers, and use available parental controls.  Knowing the technology in your home can help you protect your kids.”
