The Kerrville Police Department has concluded the Holiday Selective Traffic Enforcement Program, a grant funded enforcement initiative in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation.  The program, which ran from December 16, 2024 through January 1, 2025, aimed to deter unsafe driving and reduce accidents through the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.  During this enforcement period, the Kerrville Police Dept. conducted 60 traffic stops, 42 of which were for speeding.

Speeding remains a major cause of numerous tragic incidents on Texas roads, affecting countless lives.  Distracted driving and intersection violations, such as running red lights and stop signs, as well as failing to yield the right of way, continue to be a leading cause of accident, according to authorities.

KPD says that although this particular enforcement effort has come to an end, KPD will continue to be on the lookout for unsafe driving and want to remind the public to continue to be cautious, patient and mindful of posted speed limits to ensure the safety of everyone.
