Kerr County man dies in shooting

On April 22, at approximately 8 p.m., Kerr County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division and Kerrville EMS were dispatched to the 100 Block of Keagan Drive South, outside of Hunt, for the report of a shooting.  When deputies and Kerrville EMS arrived, 54-year-old Scott Bender was found deceased.

The Kerr County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division and the Texas Rangers responded to the scene to investigate the death.  The preliminary investigation has revealed the deceased was shot during a confrontation with a neighbor, according to a release.

This case remains under active investigation and upon completion of the investigation the case will be referred to the 216th District Attorney’s Office.  No further details will be released at this time.
