A former Comfort High school teacher is facing four years in prison after officials accused him of having an inappropriate relationship with a student. 39-year-old Tye Rexrode, a former teacher and coach at Comfort High School, was the subject of a months-long investigation in 2024 which stemmed from an anonymous tip that Rexrode was engaging in a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student.
The investigation also revealed that Rexrode had inappropriate contact with multiple other minors at the school. Officials say he used social media platforms to communicate with the students, sending them “sexually explicit messages and making improper advances.” Authorities say the messages included talking about age of consent laws and offers to share inappropriate photos of himself.
Rexrode was arrested and charged with multiple accounts of improper relationship between an educator and student in March of 2024.
Rexrode was sentenced to four years in prison for one charge followed by 10 years of probation for a second charge, both to be served concurrently. As part of his plea agreement, Rexrode cannot contact any of the students he engaged with or be around teenage girls or places they frequent.
