The Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library has Summer Reading for all ages, along with a full calendar of programs, book clubs, crafts, wellness activities, community learning opportunities, and special events throughout June. “Summer Reading is a whole-library celebration,” said Diane Miller, Director of the Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library. “Children and teens are reading, creating, and exploring, but adults also have opportunities to read, learn, relax, connect, and try something new at the library.”
In addition to Summer Reading for Adults, the library’s June calendar includes a wide variety of adult programs, including book clubs, craft groups, yoga, sound bath, writing workshops, technology and safety programs, genealogy, naturalist programs, and more. Program dates, times, locations, registration requirements, and full details are available on the library’s online calendar at https://Butt-Holdsworth.librarycalendar.com/events/month.
No library card is required to attend library programs or participate in Summer Reading – but a free library card is a great thing to have! Kerr County residents can sign up for a free card to enjoy books, e-books, audiobooks, movies, and more all year long.
Adults and music lovers are invited to enjoy Acoustic Music with The Lonesome Heroes on Wednesday, June 3, from 3:30 to 5 p.m.
Additionally, the Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library and The Arcadia are inviting families to “Beat the Heat” with Wednesday afternoon matinee movies as part of Summer Reading 2026. The partnership gives families a cool and comfortable way to enjoy stories on the big screen while connecting back to books, graphic novels, and favorite characters. Many of this summer’s movie choices have a strong “book-to-screen” connection, making them a natural fit for Summer Reading.
Movies are scheduled for Wednesday afternoons at The Arcadia, 717 Water Street. Doors open at 1:45 p.m., with movies beginning at 2 p.m. June movies include:
~June 3: Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, PG, 2-4 p.m.
~June 10: Ramona & Beezus, G, 2-4 p.m.
~June 17: Paddington, PG, 2-4 p.m.
~June 24: The Bad Guys, PG, 2-4 p.m.
The library will also welcome The Science Mill from Johnson City for hands-on science fun, including the “Lessons in Chemistry Science Show” on June 17.
Other June events for children and teens include: Story Time, Crafts, Arts & Science Club, LEGO Club, Scavenger Hunts, and Family Game Days.
Program dates, times, locations, any registration requirements, and full details are available on the library’s online calendar at https://Butt-Holdsworth.librarycalendar.com/events/month.
