Weekly Gillespie County Headlines

The Gillespie County Commissioners Court voted against the recommendation of Gillespie Central Appraisal District’s Chief Appraiser Scott Fair for a new delinquent tax collection firm at a special meeting.  The court also unanimously approved $50,000 in Hotel Occupancy Tax funds for renovations at Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park.

The Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce is now accepting applications for Leadership Gillespie County Class of 2027, a premier leadership development program designed to cultivate informed, engaged and connected leaders throughout Fredericksburg and Gillespie County.

VFW Post 7105 has received a $150,000 grant from the Dian Graves Owen Foundation to support the organization’s capital campaign for a new post building.

Gillespie Livestock Company is encouraging producers to familiarize themselves with livestock movement requirements related to the ongoing New World Screwworm response, stressing that livestock sales can continue established state and federal protocols.  At Tuesday’s Gillespie County Commissioners Court special meeting, officials unanimously approved the extension of the disaster zone classification for an additional 30 days.
