One person killed following rollover in Gillespie County

One person was killed and another was hospitalized in a rollover crash Monday night near Fredericksburg, according to the Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office.

According to investigators, the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to slow down for a turn on Ranch Road 1323 at Willow City Loop.  The vehicle struck a boulder and a fence before rolling over.

Deputies responded to the crash at approximately 9:35 p.m. and found the driver unresponsive and the passenger walking around the scene.  The driver was transported by EMS to Methodist Hospital Hill Country, where they were pronounced dead.  The passenger was airlifted to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center for treatment.

Authorities have not released the conditions or identities of those involved.  No other injuries were reported.
