Weekly ‘Recall Roundup’

~Taleco Gear recalled about 41,000 baby jumpers and baby swings due to risk or serious injury or death from falling and strangulation hazards, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said on Thursday.  The recall includes four models of baby jumpers and swings sold in the United States and Canada.  The items can become unstable, posing a hazard from falls and impacts.  They also have hanging restraint straps and seat openings that pose a risk of strangulation, the CPSC said in a recall notice.

The company has received at least 52 reports of fall, impact and strangulation hazards, including at least 32 reports of injuries such as head bumps and a bloody nose.  They were sold online at Amazon, Walmart and TalecoGear.com between April 2021 and July 2026 for between $65 and $120.  The following model numbers were included in the recall:

~Nearly 30,000 pounds of raw beef imported from Argentina was recalled last week after it entered the United States without undergoing the required federal inspection, according to the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture.  The recalled products were produced between May 15 and May 20, 2026, and have use-or-freeze-by dates ranging from Sept. 15 through Sept. 20, 2026.  The recall includes various-weight cardboard boxes containing boneless beef from Frigorlfico Gorina SAIC.  The recall includes:

Top Sirloin Butt (Cuadril Sin Tapa)

Eye Round (Peceto)

Topside Cap Off (Nalga AD S/Tapa)

Flat (Carnaza Cuadrada)

Knuckle (Bola de Lomo)

The beef was sent out to distributors and stores in Florida and Texas, although it’s unclear how widespread the meat was sold in those states.  There have been no confirmed reports of illnesses or injuries associated with the recalled products.  Anyone who purchased the recalled products should not eat them.  The products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

~Henkel Corp. recalled one of their hair mousse products after getting reports of the bottles leaking or exploding.  The recall said a packing issue could lead to leaks and potential explosions of specific lots of their Schwarzkopf Professional Osis Grip spray 6.76 fl. oz. product.  One customer reported bruising on their hand from the issue.  Two salons also reported issues with the product.  No other injuries related to this recall have been reported, the recall said.

The products were sent to multiple distributors in multiple states, including Texas.  The hair product was available to purchase by hair professionals and at other retail locations, the recall said.  Customers who have purchased the affected products are advised to return it to the store for a full refund.  For a complete list of the Batch Codes, visit FDA.gov.

~Several H-E-B products containing jalapenos were recalled due to possible salmonella contamination, according to the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.  The USDA’s FSIS issued an Aug. 8 public health alert for meat and poultry products containing “FDA (Food and Drug Administration)-regulated jalapenos that may be contaminated with Salmonella.”  The following products are included in the alert:

Other stores impacted by the alert include Albertsons, Hannaford, Kroger, RaceTrac, Walmart and Wawa.  Walmart’s 12.5 oz Marketside-branded Southwest Style Salad with Chicken is also under the recall.  The FSIS urged people to not consume any of the affected products.  Products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.  Consumers with food safety questions are encouraged to call the toll-free USDA meat and poultry hotline at 888-MPHotline (888-674-6854) or email MPHotline@usda.gov.

~A recall of more than 3 million dozen eggs has been upgraded to the FDA’s highest risk level over concerns they are contaminated with a deadly bacteria.  On Wednesday, the FDA classified the recall as Class I, indicating a ‘situation in which there is a reasonable probability that the use of or exposure to a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.’

Midwest Poultry Services first issued a recall last month of nearly 1.6 million dozen white and brown egg varieties after health officials warned they may be contaminated with Salmonella Enteritidis.  The classification now applies to nearly 1.6 million dozen Grade A brown in-shell chicken eggs and nearly 1.6 million Grade A white in-shell chicken eggs.  The eggs were produced in Texas and distributed in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.

In the most recent CDC data update regarding the recall, from July 24, there were 98 cases of salmonella and 26 hospitalizations across 17 states in connection to the recall.  For more information visit CDC.gov.
