How to check your voter registration status

Texas voters can check their voter registration status through the state’s Am I Registered? portal by visiting goelect.txelections.civixapps.com, and can search using one of three methods:

~Your Voter Unique Identifier, or VUID, found on your voter registration certificate

~Your Texas driver’s license number, if it was provided when you registered

~Your first and last name

You can also contact the voter registrar’s office in the county where you live.

The deadline to register to vote for the November 3, 2026, election is October 5.  Texas voters can fill out a voter registration application online, but there is an important catch: The online application must be printed and submitted to your county voter registrar.

More than 1.2 million Texas voters are currently on the state’s voter suspense list ahead of the November election.  If your status says “suspense,” it does not mean your voter registration has been canceled or that you can’t vote.  It generally means your county voter registrar isn’t certain that the residential address on your registration is current.  According to the Texas Secretary of State’s office, a voter can be placed on suspense after election-related mail is returned as undeliverable or officials receive other information indicating the voter may no longer live at the address on file.

The Texas Secretary of State says voters on the suspense list remain registered and are eligible to vote, although they may need to complete an additional step.  If you’ve moved, you should update the address on your voter registration.  The deadline for an address change to take effect for the Nov. 3 election is Oct. 5, according to VoteTexas.gov.  If you moved to another county, you generally need to register in your new county.

Voters who moved to a different county but missed the registration deadline may qualify for a limited ballot.  Limited ballots are available only during early voting at the main early voting polling place, not on Election Day.

Early voting for the Nov. 3 election runs from Oct. 19 through Oct. 30.  Any registered Texas voter can vote early in person.  Other key dates for Texas voters include:

~Oct. 5: Deadline to register or update your address for the Nov. 3 election

~Oct. 19: Early voting begins

~Oct. 30: Early voting ends

~Nov. 3: Election Day
