South Texas Blood & Tissue encourages giving blood during holiday season

South Texas Blood & Tissue announced that from now until Nov. 8, donors who give at any donor center will be entered to win a New York City Thanksgiving Day experience.  Donors must use code NY to be entered.

The prize package includes a $1,500 Visa gift card for airfare and one double room for two nights at Embassy Suites by Hilton New York Manhattan Times Square from Nov. 25-27.  It also includes tickets for a Nov. 26 brunch for two at 6th Avenue Loft for Thanksgiving Day parade viewing.

South Texas Blood & Tissue said the giveaway comes as patients across South Texas continue to rely on lifesaving blood during the holiday season.  The organization said donated blood helps a wide range of patients, including accident victims and mothers expecting complications during childbirth, and is also used for emergencies, surgeries, cancer treatment and other serious conditions.

To donate, South Texas Blood & Tissue said donors can schedule an appointment at SouthTexasBlood.org or by calling 833-You-GIVE or 210-731-5590.  Donors are asked to use promo code NY to participate in the giveaway.

The organization also noted that anyone who gives at a donor center earns donor points that can be redeemed in the Donor Store for items including gift cards and Spurs merchandise.
