At a recent Kerrville City Council meeting, Mayor Joe Herring, Jr. officially proclaimed October 2026 as Fire Prevention Month in the City of Kerrville, reaffirming the City’s commitment to fire prevention, public safety, and community education.
This year’s Fire Prevention Week theme, “Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging is a Superpower,” emphasizes the importance of proper handling and charging of lithium-ion batteries commonly found in smartphones, laptops, power tools, e-bikes, scooters, and other electronic devices. As the use of lithium-ion batteries continues to grow, residents are encouraged to follow recommended safety practices to help prevent battery-related fires and protect their homes and families.
Residents are encouraged to take an active role in fire safety by practicing safe charging habits and remaining informed about potential fire hazards.
