The Camp Meeting Creek low-water-crossing at Sand Bend Drive and Englewood Drive, as well as 200 feet on either side, will be closed until further notice, according to the City of Kerrville.  Officials say the crossing sustained significant erosion beneath the roadway, undermining the pavement and exposing drainage infrastructure.  Because of this, a portion of the concrete approach collapsed adjacent to the culvert, making the crossing unsafe for traffic.

Crews will determine permanent repair options and what usage, if any, can be gotten out of the damaged pavement.  After the assessment is complete, Kerrville will announce a reopening date and the construction timeline for the closed crossing.  In the meantime, motorists are asked to obey all traffic control devices and use alternate routes until the reopening date, when given.

“The July flood caused damage to infrastructure throughout our community, and this crossing is one of the locations requiring significant repairs,” said Public Works Director David Barrera.  “Our priority is restoring safe access as quickly as possible while ensuring the repairs are built to standards.”
