The Center Point Fire Department is hoping to garner enough signatures on their current petition to enable them to catapult the issue of having an emergency services district on the upcoming November ballot.

Currently, there are 34 members with gear and trucks and constant maintenance which all require constant funding. Should the issue go through to fruition, it would ultimately be funded by a property tax.

Center Point will soon be adding two new subdivisions, resulting in about 400 additional homes. Center Point firefighters feel that the need for an emergency services district is more important than ever for the community.

Anyone interested in signing the petition or learning more about what it entails is asked to show up at the Center Point Fire Station, 548 W. Kelly, between 5-7 PM Friday, May 7.

The deadline to submit the petition to the City of Kerrville is May 12.
