Changes have been announced to materials being accepted at the Fredericksburg Recycling Center beginning on Monday, November 1, due to a global decline in the recycling industry. Beginning November 1st, materials accepted will include aluminum, tin cans, cardboard, mixed paper, magazines, newsprint and mixed plastics.

The first grouping of plastics accepted include those commonly referred to as PET or PETE and include salad dressing bottles and other food and drink containers. HDPE plastics accepted include milk jugs, detergent bottles and shampoo bottles.

Paper and cardboard items should not be wet or soiled. Materials will only be accepted for recycling if separated into one of the three categories.

A cardboard bailer is available for commercial customers during regular business hours: Monday-Wednesday: 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.; Thursday: Closed for Processing; Friday: 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.; Saturday: 8:00 a.m.-Noon; Sunday: Closed.
