The City of Boerne is hoping to show why it’s the merriest Christmas town in the country. The city is a finalist in the Hallmark Channel’s Merriest Christmas Town contest, giving the Lone Star State an opportunity to bring home the holiday title.
Every year, Boerne transforms into a holiday destination during the Christmas season, with its historic downtown lined with twinkling lights, decorated storefronts and festive events. The town’s Hill Country Mile serves as the centerpiece of the holiday celebrations. Storefronts are decorated with garlands and wreaths, while thousands of white lights illuminate the downtown area.
One of Boerne’s biggest holiday traditions is A Dickens Celebration, an annual event that brings a Victorian-style Christmas to the Hill Country. Visitors can see performers dressed in Victorian costumes, horse-drawn wagons, musicians, and entertainers throughout downtown. Families can also visit Santa and take part in other holiday activities.
The community says it has created a small-town atmosphere that feels straight out of a holiday movie. From tree-lighted ceremonies and Christmas markets to holiday concerts and decorated shops, residents and visitors celebrate throughout the season.
Hallmark’s contest allows people to vote once per person per day. Voters will need to verify their email address once to ensure their selection is counted.
