The City of Kerrville has announced that due to extreme heat, Republic Services has implemented a Summer Safety Plan aimed at reducing heat-related hazards to protect its staff and citizens. Brush and yard waste pick up will begin at 6:30 a.m. each day instead of 7:30 a.m. starting Monday, June 19. The new schedule will run through Friday, September 22.
Citizens are asked to place their brush and yard waste curbside by 6:30 a.m. on Monday of their respective collection week at least three feet away from other objects. The new schedule change does not affect other solid waste services.
According to the Director of Public Works David Barrera, “Brush collection typically requires a driver and one or two helpers to manually load piles or bags onto the collection vehicles. Given the size of the routes, we understand Republic Service’s initiative and request to modify the schedule.”
For additional information, contact Republic Services at (830) 522-3062, or Public Works at (830) 258-1221.
