The City of Kerrville and High Five Events announced that the community’s recent 10th Annual Kerrville Triathlon Festival, which was held this past weekend, was a huge success bringing almost 5,000 visitors to the area. Festival organizers confirmed 1,800 triathletes competed from at least 20 states.
Participants competed on a course which included swimming in Nimitz Lake, running along the Kerrville River Trail and cycling throughout the scenic Texas Hill Country. Upon completion of the triathlon, fajitas and beer were provided by local craft brewer Pint and Plow, along with various entertainment.
City leaders project conservative figures of $1.2 to $1.4 million were pumped into the community last weekend based on visitor counts and identified spending habits during sporting events spanning two nights. According to Kerrville Parks and Recreation Director Ashlea Boyle, “This event provides a positive economic impact to our local community through tourism. Athletes stayed in hotels, ate at restaurants, bought gas and shopped locally.”
