The City of Kerrville Public Works, Solid Waste Division would like to remind citizens about their free bulk waste drop-off voucher for the first quarter of 2021. The voucher is intended for residents who have an active account for solid waste services.
Eligible residents will be issued one voucher to be used one time from Jan. 2 through March 31, 2021. Residents are able to discard unwanted appliances such as dryers, water heaters, and other miscellaneous furniture. Refrigerators, freezers and A/C units are allowed only if the refrigerant has been reclaimed and the unit has been tagged by a licensed technician. Bagged trash, as well as brush and yard waste, is also allowed to be dropped off at the landfill with the voucher.
Vouchers are only available by calling the Public Works office at (830) 258-1221. Residents with city solid waste services are allowed one voucher per household. Vouchers are valid for one trip to the landfill during the first quarter, 2021. Vouchers expire Wednesday, March 31, 2021. All items transported must be covered and/or secured during transportation.
Landfill/Transfer Station hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:50 p.m.; Saturday, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; For any loads larger than a utility trailer, please call ahead for approval.
Prohibited Items: Tires; Household paints, chemicals, and other hazardous items.
The Solid Waste Division encourages citizens to check with neighbors who may need assistance. This promotes encouragement and stewardship within your neighborhood. The City of Kerrville is announcing that candidate application packets are available for persons interested in running on the May 1, 2021 ballot for a place on the Kerrville City Council. A candidate application packet for a place on the ballot can be picked up in the city secretary’s office at City Hall, 701 Main Street, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. C.S.T.
The first day for filing an application is Jan. 13 and the last day to file is Feb. 12 at 5 p.m. C.S.T.
Candidate packets are now available for persons interested in being a candidate for Councilmember Place One, and Councilmember Place Two. In accordance with the city charter, any person who is a registered voter of the city and lawfully qualifies may file an application for a place on the ballot for the May 1, 2021 electon for city council, with qualifications as listed in the Texas Election Code and the Kerrville city charter.
Candidates are elected and new elected members assume office without party or partisan mark or designation, elected at large, and serve a two-year term. The candidate’s name and place for which he/she is filing must be affixed by the city secretary at the time of issuance of the application and petition. Such application must include a filing fee of $100; however, the filing fee will be waived where the petitioner includes the signatures of not less than 100 qualified and registered voters of the city.
Gary Cochrane currently holds the position of Councilmember Place One, and Kim Clarkson currently holds position of Councilmember Place Two.
