The Kerrville City Council approved a resolution at its December 10, 2024 city council meeting ordering the city to hold a general election on Saturday, May 3, 2025.  The election will be for the Councilmember Place 1 and Councilmember Place 2 positions.  Early voting begins April 22, 2025, and continues through April 29, 2025.  The election will occur at the Municipal Court building located at 301 McFarland Street.  The City moved the election to this location as the Cailloux Theater will be undergoing extensive roofing reconstruction during this same period.

For persons interested in running on the ballot for City Council Place One or Place Two, a candidate application packet will be available in the city secretary’s office, located at City Hall, 701 Main St., beginning Monday, Jan. 6, 2025.  The City Secretary office is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Note:  Monday, Jan. 20,2025 is a holiday and City Hall will be closed.)

The first day for filing an application with the City Secretary is Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2025, and filing continues through Friday, Feb. 14, 2025 at 5 p.m.  A completed City of Kerrville official candidate application will be accepted.

In accordance with the city charter, any person who is a registered voter of the city and lawfully qualifies may file an application for a place on the ballot.  Qualifications are listed in the Texas Election Code and the Kerrville city charter.  Candidates are elected at large, meaning the City does not designate districts, and councilmembers assume office without party or partisan mark or designation and serve a two-year term.  The candidate’s name and place for which he/she is filing must be affixed by the city secretary at the time of issuance of the application and petition.  Such application must include a filing fee of $100;  however, the filing fee will be waived where the petition includes the signatures of not less than 100 qualified and registered voters of the city.

Delayne Sigerman currently holds the position of Councilmember Place One, and Jeff Harris holds the position of Councilmember Place Two.

For information regarding the May 3, 2025 city election, contact the City secretary’s office at (830) 258-1117, or (830) 258-1118.
