There will be plenty of activities to take part in this weekend before area schools begin on Monday.

The 25th annual Kids Triathlon will be held Saturday, August 14 beginning at 9 a.m. at Singing Wind Park for all children ages pre-K to 18 years of age. Pre-registration will take place at the Parks and Recreation Dept., 2385 Bandera Highway, or online at www.kerrvilletx.gov.

After the Kids Triathlon, ‘Wet N’ Wag/Chip N’ Dip will take place from 5-7 p.m. at the Olympic Pool. Current proof of rabies vaccinations is required at the time of registration and owners are asked not to bring aggressive dogs and please clean up after their pets.

Free micro-chipping for your pets will be provided on site by Kerrville Pets Alive for the first 25 dogs. Fredericksburg’s Dogologie will be providing gift cards for dogs attending (while supplies last).

The Kerr Regional History Center will be debuting “Bats: Habits and Habitats” with Nyta Brown Saturday, August 14 at 10:30 a.m. The bat exhibit will continue to be on display through September 24. For more information, contact the Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library reference desk at (830) 258-1274 or visit the city’s website at www.kerrvilletx.gov.

One event that has been scrapped due to the recent rise in COVID-19 cases is the Friends of the Library “Second Saturday” book sales. The book store will continue to be open on Wednesdays from 1-3 p.m.
