The City of Kerrville Parks and Recreation Department invites the public to celebrate the holiday season with two events scheduled to take place this Saturday on the Kerrville River Trail.

“Running Home for the Holidays 5K” will be taking place on Saturday, December 4, at 4 p.m. in Louise Hays Park, 202 Thompson Drive. Participants are encouraged to dress up as their favorite Christmas character, and the best costume will receive a prize.

Interested individuals can register online at www.kerrvilletx.gov, call (830) 257-7300, or register in person at the Parks and Recreation Department Office, 2385 Bandera Highway. Registration fee includes an event t-shirt for the first 100 entries, a raffle ticket and costs $10 per participant.

Immediately following the 5K and continuing on every Saturday throughout the month of December, Tranquility Island inside of Louise Hays Park, will be experiencing “snow”. The artificial snow on the island will take place between 6:30-8:00 p.m. The island will be lit up every night during the month of December to allow residents to continue the holiday spirit.

For additional information, contact the Parks and Recreation Department at (830) 257-7300, or visit the City of Kerrville’s website at www.kerrvilletx.gov.
