City of Kerrville’s uniformed utility staff personnel to monitor local water issues

The City of Kerrville wants to remind residents that uniformed utility staff personnel will be performing essential water-monitoring tasks throughout the community over the coming days and months.  These professionals are responsible for a wide range of operations, including reading and maintaining water meters, conducting water quality testing, performing water service cut-offs and turn-ons, checking water pressures, and maintaining both the sewer collection and water distribution networks.  These activities are critical to ensuring the ongoing reliability, safety, and efficiency of the city’s water and sewer systems.

In addition to system maintenance, other City of Kerrville staff are actively involved in monitoring water usage across the area to ensure compliance with local restrictions and support water conservation efforts.  These employees may engage directly with the public to distribute educational materials that explain current water use guidelines, restrictions, and best practices for conserving water.  Their goal is to promote awareness and provide valuable resources to help residents use water more efficiently.

“We’ve heard of instances in other cities where individuals have falsely represented a municipality or utility and attempted to sell water filtrations.  We are not in the business of doing that,” said David Barrera, director of Utilities.  “We want to assure our community that Kerrville utility staff adhere to clear standards, including wearing proper uniforms, carrying official identification badges, and conducting themselves with professionalism.”

“This reminder is especially important as our team increases efforts to monitor water usage and may have more interactions with the public,” Barrera added.

Anyone who suspects someone is falsely representing the City of Kerrville is asked to contact City Hall at (830) 257-8000.
