The Kerrville Parks and Recreation Department invites the community and visitors to its ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the restoration of Guadalupe Park, 701 Guadalupe St, which has been closed since the July 2025 floods. The ceremony will take place on Friday, July 17, at 12:00 p.m.
Newly restored features at Guadalupe Park include a full-size basketball court with lighting, fencing, handrails, public art, four ADA-accessible tables, sidewalk connections, trash cans, a drinking fountain, and an inclusive playground. This project was funded through a partnership with the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country and National Basketball Association (NBA) teams from Texas, including the Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks, and the San Antonio Spurs. A heartfelt thank you goes out to these organizations for their dedication to promoting wellness, inclusivity, recovery, and recreation within the community.
After the formal ceremony, community members are encouraged to stay for a complimentary BBQ lunch donated by the project contractors, Whirlix and Forever Lawn. In addition, children will have the opportunity to participate in a sports clinic featuring representatives from each NBA team. Participants will be required to sign liability waivers and photography/videography releases. Parking is expected to be busy, with only on-street options available. Attendees should consider parking at the nearby Dietert Center, 451 Guadalupe St., and walking approximately 0.4 miles to the park.
For additional information about the parks or this event, contact the Parks and Recreation Department at (830) 257-7300, or visit the city’s website at www.kerrvilletx.gov.
