Early Voting begins Tuesday for the March 3 primary election and will continue through February 27.  For those who do not vote early, Election Day is March 3.  The winners of each party’s nomination in this election will advance to a faceoff in November during the general election.

Texas has one U.S. Senate seat on the ballot, which is held by John Cornyn.  Cornyn is hoping to be elected to his fifth term in office.  This year, Cornyn is being challenged by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, U.S. Rep. Wesley Hunt and five others.

The Democrats vying for this seat include U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett, State Rep. James Talarico, and Houston-area businessman Ahmad R. Hassan.  A Democrat has not held this statewide office in more than 30 years.

One seat garnering a lot of intrigue is the race for U.S. Rep. District 21, which is currently Chip Roy (R)’s seat.  Roy is leaving the U.S. House to make a run for the state AG’s office.  Twelve Republicans and three Democrats are competing in the primary for Roy’s House of Representatives seat.

In Kerr County, voters will decide on specific elections for Kerr County Judge, County Court at Law Judge, District Clerk, County Clerk, County Commissioner Precinct 1 (unexpired term), County Commissioner Precinct 2, County Commissioner Precinct 3, Justice of the Peace Precinct 3, and Justice of the Peace Precinct 4.

Primary Elections are open to registered voters who can choose to vote in the Democratic Party Primary or the Republican Party Primary.
