The Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that $20,000 worth of silver bars was stolen from a Fredericksburg-area storage facility located at 290 East Storage, on August 24.  Investigators say three storage bay locks were cut open, and the facility did not have a gate, meaning the property could be accessed directly from the highway.

According to the sheriff’s office, two of the three storage bays that were accessed contained furniture and were left untouched.  The third unit was the one that was tampered with.  That unit contained the silver bars, along with sports cards, collectibles and a weed eater.  Those items were also reported stolen.  The sheriff’s office believes the theft happened during the nighttime hours.

The Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who may have information about the theft to contact Gillespie County Crime Stoppers.  Tips can be made anonymously by calling 830-997-TIPS (8477).
