The 134th Gillespie County Fair, sponsored by the Gillespie County Fair and Festivals Association, is scheduled for August 26-28 but gates will be open beginning Thursday, August 25, 5 p.m. with free admission to the grounds.

Event organizers say the Fair will include two days of live pari-mutuel horse racing, a carnival and midway, displays of agricultural and home products, a parade, a queen’s contest, musical entertainment and livestock shows.

The parade route will follow Main Street beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 26, before returning back to the fair grounds where gates will officially open at 1 p.m. Also set for Friday is the crowning of the 2023 Gillespie County Fair Queen and her court, planned for 7 p.m.

This year’s Gillespie County Fair is dedicated to honorary lifetime directors Dennis Behrends and Patrick Kunz. As for the horse racing events, the 2022 racing season at the Class III facility at the fair grounds concludes on Sunday, August 28, with the running of the 2022 Gillespie County Fair Futurity.
