The Fredericksburg Independent School District Board of Trustees met this week and approved several agenda items, including the purchase of virtual teacher services as a back-up to fill vacant positions and the purchase of additional security cameras.

Donations for the 2024 School Supplies Program are being accepted at the Hill Country Community Needs Council.  Through the program, each child PreK-12 receives a backpack and necessary supplies for their grade level.  Donations of bags, supplies or funds will be accepted through July 31.  To donate, mail to Hill Country Community Needs Council, P.O. Box 73, Fredericksburg, TX 78624.  Donations can also be dropped off at 1904 North Llano Street.  For more information, visit www.needscouncil.org.

The Boerne Independent School District has announced that the three BISD schools which recently sustained some water and fire damage will be repaired before the district’s start date of August 12.

Upper level students planning on taking the ACT test will be seeing some new changes beginning April 2025.  According to the CEO of ACT Janet Godwin, there will be more time per question, and the number of questions is being reduced from 215 to 171.  The ACT will also be making the science section optional and integrating experimental questions into existing sections.  This follows past changes recently made, including offering a digital version of the test.
