Kayem Foods Inc. has recalled more than 1.5 million pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry after reports that their products were unusually warm. “Possible temperature abuse,” was how the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service referred to the problem in its recall announcement on Saturday, October 17.
The recalled products include hot dogs, sausages, bologna, ham, turkey breast and bacon, among others. The USDA lists hundreds of potentially impacted products, with photos, on its website. Certain products from the following brands are included in the recall: Kayem, Genoa, Al Fresco, Triple M, McKenzie Country Classics, Deutschmacher, Jordan’s, Essem and Winnisimmet.
The recalled meat and poultry items were produced between March 31 and Oct. 7 and all bear the following establishment numbers inside the USDA mark of inspection.
