The Kerr County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division acted in response to a notification from the Department of Family & Protective Services on May 6th, regarding a child displaying an injury resulting from possible child abuse. Deputies began an investigation into the allegation and concluded with the issue of a warrant for the adult believed to be responsible, 39-year-old John Paul Richardson, of Kerrville.
Richardson attempted to avoid arrest after the warrant was issued, according to a press release. Investigators with the Criminal Investigators Division and Special Operations Division continued to develop information before ultimately locating him at a residence in Kerrville.
Upon execution of the warrant, Richardson was arrested on one felony charge of Injury to a Child and was booked into the Kerr County Jail with bond set at $35,000.
“This is a troubling case, not just for the family affected, but also our community,” said Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha. Leitha added, “We appreciate the attentive adults and network of professionals that work with us to protect the children of Kerr County. There’s never a justification for abusing a child, regardless of the circumstances. It’s more important than ever that adults who have concerns about a child’s welfare communicate with those who can help.”
