KCSO makes I-10 drug arrests

On Tuesday, April 22, the Kerr County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division, Criminal Interdiction Unit, conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 10 near Mile Marker 501.  Upon making contact with the driver, a strong odor of marijuana was detected coming from inside the vehicle, according to a release.  The driver, Jason James Borchers, 22, of Corpus Christi, was advised of a probable cause search of the vehicle.  Also in the vehicle was a passenger, Justin Ray Perez, 18, of Riviera, Texas.

Inside the trunk were discovered psilocybin mushrooms and an extensive amount of THC vape pens, vacuum sealed bags of Marijuana, and THC wax and edibles.  The seized narcotics totaled: 11.97 lbs. of THC products, 3.47 lbs. of psilocybin mushrooms, and 1.08 lbs. of Marijuana.  Both occupants were placed under arrest and transported to the Kerr County Jail.

The driver, Jason James Borchers, was charged with Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance, PG 2 OR 2-A>=4G<400G, as well as Possession of Marijuana,>4OZ<=5LBS.  Bonds for Borchers total $115,000.

The passenger, Justin Ray Perez, was charged with two counts of Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance, PG 2 OR 2-A>=4G<400G, as well as Possession of Marijuana,>4OZ<=5LBS.  Bonds for Perez total $107,000.

“Our interdiction efforts continue every single day, around the clock to prevent drug smuggling in Kerr County,” said Kerr County Sheriff Larry Leitha.  Leitha added that KCSO will continue to enforce state law, protect public safety, and submit strong cases for prosecution.
