A 77-year-old man has been sentenced after a Kendall County jury found him guilty of sexually abusing two children, according to the Kendall County Criminal District Attorney’s Office. Warren Scott Jones was convicted Wednesday of two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and one count of indecency with a child by sexual contact.
The case began in July 2024 after a local church youth leader reported that a child had disclosed sexual abuse. Investigators said two victims eventually reported being abused by Jones, a family member, when they were about 5 to 7 years old. Prosecutors said evidence presented during the nearly three-day trial showed the abuse occurred over several years and in multiple jurisdictions, including Kendall County.
Jurors sentenced Jones to 40 years for each aggravated sexual assault conviction and 20 years for the indecency conviction, following the sentences recommended by prosecutors. Assistant Criminal District Attorney Andrew Fields thanked the jury and praised the children for being “so bravely able to testify against their abuser.”
The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case.
