Kendall County Commissioners approved putting a $20 million bond issuance to purchase land for conservation on the November 8 ballot during their regularly scheduled Monday meeting.
The Boerne City Council formally called for a $36 million bond issuance during its last council meeting, which fell just one week before the deadline. The proposal includes parks and road improvements which will be broken down into two measures.
A $23 million road infrastructure measure would include the complete rehaul and widening of Adler Road, along with other road and intersection improvements. The remaining $13 million would be earmarked for covering the cost of developing Northside Community Park.
II. Kerrville library makes plans to celebrate Mary Elizabeth Holdsworth-Butt
The Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library has announced their plans to honor and celebrate the legacy of Mary Elizabeth Holdsworth-Butt this Saturday, August 27 at 2 p.m. in the library’s meeting room.
Mary Elizabeth was an educator, philanthropist, social reformer and tireless advocate for libraries and was considered instrumental in the development of the Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library. She graduated from Tivy High School and the University of Texas, before launching her career as a teacher in Kerrville public schools.
Saturday’s activities will begin with a presentation given by Dr. William Rector. There will be also be a photographic exhibit which includes many personal effects of Mrs. Butt, courtesy of the H.E.B. Foundation.
